Windsor man running with knife arrested

A man is facing several charges after he was arrested while allegedly armed with a knife.

Investigators said they were called on Tuesday at approximately 12:15 p.m. about a man running near Giles Boulevard and Crawford Avenue carrying a knife. Officers found the suspect in a nearby business allegedly with a folding knife hanging from his waistband. He was arrested and the knife was seized.

Police said the knife was a prohibited weapon. Canadian law prohibits the possession of a knife that has a blade that opens automatically similar to a switchblade.

Witnesses reported seeing the man using the knife in a dangerous manner. No injuries were reported.

Tyler Sprague, 23, of Windsor is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited weapon, breach of probation, and disobeying a court order to not carry a prohibited weapon.
