Christmas Day attempted murder suspect vanishes

Lasalle police are still searching for a man wanted for an attempted murder on Christmas Day.

Police said a Canada-wide arrest warrant has now been issued for Shanique White, 25, a U.S. citizen with ties to Detroit and Phoenix, after a Windsor man was stabbed several times shortly before 9 p.m. on December 25. Officers found the 20-year-old victim in the area of Golfview Drive and Matchette Road in LaSalle. Police said the victim was treated in the hospital and is now recovering from his injuries at home.

Police say the suspect met the victim at a home in Windsor, and the pair went to a local bar but it was closed for Christmas. The bleeding victim walked through a wooded area before a passerby came to his aid. The name of the victim is not being released.

White was last seen driving an orange Honda Element with an Arizona licence plate. Investigators believe he returned to the U.S.

The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is urged to contact the LaSalle Police Service at 519-969-5210 or through Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477.
