Ford in Windsor shared some exciting news with the world on Thursday.
First, Ford workers and retirees donated $562,693 to the United Way of Windsor-Essex County. Leadec Industrial Services and Penske Logistics Canada also helped raise those funds during their most recent annual campaign.
“I am proud to represent a team that continually demonstrates a collective commitment to the community through our strong partnership with United Way,” said Tony Savoni, Ford Windsor operations site manager. “It is our sincere honour to have partnered with United Way for more than 70 years and we know that United Way will continue to do amazing things in Windsor and Essex County with this donation.”
The Ford Windsor site has contributed more than $51 million overall to the local United Way.
As well, Ford unveiled the new 7.3-litre gas V8 engine to be produced at the Windsor Engine Plant – Annex facility.
“Last year, we held this event in almost the exact spot where we are now standing, made up at that time of mostly empty floor space," said Savoni. Today, we are here surrounded by state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.”
The 7.3-litre is expected to be the most powerful gas V8 engine in its class, providing durability, ease of maintenance, and all the towing and payload capability Ford customers want. The 7.3-litre gas V8 will be one of three engine options for the new 2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup truck.
