Driver hurt when pickup truck hits Lakeshore building

A driver was injured after his pickup truck crashed into a building in Lakeshore.

The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened just before noon Friday on County Road 22 near Emery Drive in Emeryville. The pickup, which was travelling westbound, somehow left the road and struck a building, damaging the front of two businesses. The driver was given first aid by a passing off-duty police officer until Essex-Windsor EMS arrived on the scene and took him to hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.

Road 22 is open, but police are asking drivers to avoid the area if they can. The OPP's Technical Collision Investigators remain on scene.

Union Gas, the Lakeshore Fire Department and the town of Lakeshore assisted with the crash and its aftermath.

More details will be provided as they become available.
