Windsor residents are gearing up for the "Coldest Night of the Year" and it's all for a good cause.
The Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM) will repeat their successful Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event again this February.
The organization supports men ages 16 to 24 years old as they try to start new lives after facing homelessness by providing counselling and teaching basic life skills.
During their Coldest Night of the Year event, those who register will spend the night outdoors in the cold. Pledges are collected based on the number of hours participants last in the cold.
“We can never duplicate the desperation of homelessness," said volunteer executive director, Greg Goulin. "The rules allow for participants to leave at any time with the knowledge that they have a warm home, hot bath and a good meal to return to - something the homeless can only dream about while facing another night of misery.”
The fundraiser takes place February 22 at 5 PM and goes until 7AM the following morning.
