Layoff changes at Windsor Assembly Plant

Layoff plans have changed again at the Windsor Assembly Plant (WAP).

The layoff originally planned for the week of February 11, then changed to the week of February 25 will now take place the week of February 18. Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy made the announcement on his Facebook page late Tuesday afternoon.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) said last month that it is pushing up a shut down scheduled for April.

Workers were also laid off for the first two weeks of January. FCA said at the time that those layoffs at the beginning of the new year were to adjust high inventories.

The WAP was also shut down for a week in late October to adjust inventory.
