Windsor police seize firearms in raid

A collection of firearms is off the streets thanks to the efforts of Windsor police.

The WPS Drugs and Guns Unit (DIGS) had been investigating the suspected illegal possession of guns out of a Walkerville business. After a suspect and location were identified, the investigation climaxed with a raid on a commercial property at Walker Rd. near Richmond St. on Wednesday evening.

A 49-year-old Windsor man was at the location and was arrested without incident. Police seized a revolver, a rifle, three pellet rifles, three pellet handguns and a box of ammunition.

Duke Bracaj is charged with two counts apiece of possession of a firearm without a licence, as well as unsafe storage of a firearm. He is also accused of possession of a firearm while prohibited. These charges have yet to be proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4361 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
