Man set on fire in Windsor

A Windsor man has been arrested after allegedly dousing and burning another man with lighter fluid.

Windsor police said the suspect entered a vehicle at Caroline Street and Bruce Avenue on Friday afternoon and got into an argument with another man he knew. The victim reported that the suspect sprayed lighter fluid on him, ignited it and robbed him. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated in the hospital for burns.

Both men were gone by the time officers got to the area but a witness turned over a bottle of lighter fluid that was thrown from the involved vehicle.

Kenneth Jones, 29, from Windsor was arrested on Monday near Crawford Avenue and Tecumseh Road. He is charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and robbery.
