Caregiver charged after elderly woman defrauded

A Windsor woman has been charged with fraud after allegedly ripping off an elderly woman she was caring for.

Police said an elderly woman, who was being taken care of by a personal support worker (PSW), reported a number of unauthorized financial transactions using her credit card. An investigation was launched by Windsor police in late February and investigators identified a suspect that was employed locally and providing in-home support to the victim.

The suspect was arrested Monday morning. Sonya Blazevski, 53, of Windsor is charged with four counts each of fraud, theft, possession of stolen property, and impersonating another person.

Investigators believe there could be more victims involved and want to hear from them.

You can contact Windsor Police Service at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
