UPDATE: Pedestrian hit on Hwy 401 at Todd Lane

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Highway 401.

It happened around 10:50 a.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of the 401 near Todd Lane, according to OPP Constable Stephanie Moniz. A transport truck was travelling in the live lane when the pedestrian was hit.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the transport truck was unhurt.

Callers to the BlackburnNewsWindsor.com newsroom reported a significant backup of vehicles on the 401 at the Todd Lane-Cabana Road tunnel.

Police were asking drivers to avoid the area until the incident was cleared, which happened shortly before 1 p.m.
