Man charged in fatal Valentine's Day crash

A Windsor man is now facing charges in connection with a crash on Valentine's Day that killed a Windsor woman.

Karen Kelly, 69, died February 26 after a crash involving a silver Cadillac and a white Chrysler sedan at George Avenue and Reginald Street on February 14.

Police identified the suspect as the driver of the Cadillac involved in the collision and arrested Joseph Mallen, 22 of Windsor, on Friday night on Reginald Street at Ford Boulevard. Police also alleged the suspect was intentionally attempting to mislead officers during the investigation.

Mallen is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, public mischief, and obstructing justice.

Charges against a 20-year-old man from Windsor, who was originally arrested on February 15, were dropped last week.
