High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A four-vehicle crash in Leamington has sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Leamington reported that Highway 77 between Road 10 and Essex County Road 14 closed for the investigation following the crash at around 2:20 p.m. involving two pickup trucks, a passenger vehicle, and a transport truck.
"Two people were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment of what appears to be serious but non-life threatening injuries at this time," the OPP said.
Highway 77 between Road 10 and Essex County Road 14 reopened at around 6 p.m.
