Second illegal pot shop busted

Four Windsor residents face charges after a drug bust at a storefront on University Avenue West.

The Ontario Provincial Police, working with Windsor Police under the Cannabis Joint Forces Enforcement Team raided the store near Dougall Avenue on Thursday.

Police seized cash and cannabis products from the store and arrested 35-year-old Christopher Meers, 20-year-old Ariana Jade Poisson, 27-year-old Zachary Whipple, and 33-year-old Jordan Haight.

The foursome are charged with possession for the purpose of selling under the Cannabis Act.

On Thursday afternoon, officers also raided The Compassion House on Tecumseh Road West and arrested two people.

The only legal way to buy marijuana and cannabis products right now is online through the Ontario Cannabis Store.

As of April 1, Ontario will open 25 marijuana retail stores across the province.

The allegations have not been proven in court.
