Spitfires fall 4-3 to Firebirds in a shootout

The Windsor Spitfires lost 4-3 to the Flint Firebirds in a shootout after their comeback came up short on Thursday.

The Firebirds scored late in the first period to take the lead, while they extended to 3-0 after scoring another two goals early in the second. Luke Boka scored 9:95 into the second frame to put Windsor on the board.

Curtis Douglas scored twice for the Spitfires in the third to tie the game and force overtime.  After a scoreless OT period, the Firebirds were able to earn the win in a shootout.

Despite the loss, the Spitfires outshot the Firebirds 43-32.

The Spitfires will play their final regular season game in Sarnia against the Sting on Friday. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
