Ontario's Lieutenant Governor is making another stop in Windsor-Essex.
The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell will be spending Wednesday afternoon in LaSalle, participating in several discussions and meeting with Mayor Marc Bondy.
The visit will focus on the United Nations' Sustainable Goal 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities. It also coincides with Wednesday being International Francophonie Day. LaSalle is the oldest French settlement in southwestern Ontario.
Her Honour is scheduled to meet with Bondy for a private half-hour chat. She will then take part in a roundtable discussion at the LaSalle Civic Centre on "Economic Development, the Waterfront and Community Partnerships", according to a release from the town. Dowdeswell will then tour the University of Windsor's Freshwater Ecology Centre, located on the LaSalle waterfront, before wrapping up her visit with an invitation-only reception with community representatives.
This will be Dowdeswell's 75th official visit during her term as Lieutenant Governor. Dowdeswell, who represents Queen Elizabeth II in Ontario, visited Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent last month. She visited Walpole Island First Nation, Point Pelee National Park, and toured the Aphria cannabis greenhouse operation. She also met with Leamington Mayor Hilda MacDonald and Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain.
