Mayors open their doors to the public

If you have ever wanted to sit down with your mayor and run a few ideas past him or her, now is your chance so long as you live in Leamington or LaSalle.

Both LaSalle Mayor Marc Bondy and Leamington's Hilda MacDonald plan to start holding chats or meetings with members of the public on specific days.

Bondy has cleared his schedule to meet with residents on Mondays at the LaSalle Civic Centre.

The first "Monday with Mayor Marc Bondy" is on Monday, March 25 from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents do not have to make an appointment, just let the receptionist know you are there to meet with the mayor when you arrive.

The other dates set aside are April 15, May 13, and May 27.

In Leamington, MacDonald plans to increase public engagement and discussion by holding "Coffee Chats" at the Leamington Municipal Building. MacDonald said she plans to hold the informal sit-ins throughout the year with the first on Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

"The casual atmosphere and great coffee are a perfect combination for the exchange of ideas, feedback, and general community-building," she said.
