Two charged in off-road vehicle, motorcycle thefts

Search warrants issued on two Windsor-Essex businesses have led to charges against two men.

Ontario Provincial Police say they searched two commercial properties last Tuesday, one on Rossi Drive near Pulleyblank Street, the other on County Road 8 off Walker Road. Officers from the Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team and the OPP Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau helped execute the warrants.

Constable Jim Root said a number of all-terrain vehicles (ATV), utility-terrain vehicles (UTV), motorcycles, and a golf cart stolen earlier this year from the Lakeshore area were recovered, with a total value of $150,000. Two firearms were also seized from the businesses.

Vincenzo Chiarappa Sr, 53, of Tecumseh and Vincenzo Chiarappa Jr, 25, of Windsor are each charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both men will have a chance to respond to the charges in a court proceeding set for May 7 in Windsor.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
