Crash leads to drug, firearm charges

Two people face charges after a collision in Tecumseh led to the seizure of guns and drugs, including cocaine and heroin.

The Ontario Provincial Police said a vehicle struck a park bench approximately 100 metres off the roadway near the water's edge on Riverside Drive in Tecumseh March 28. A man and a woman were arrested after officers discovered cocaine, heroin, magic mushrooms, and several prohibited firearms and restricted weapons.

Michael Funston, 34, of Kitchener was charged with more than 70 offences including firearm and weapons related offences, breaking court prohibition orders and possession of drugs.

Cheyenne Cassels, 22, of Windsor was charged with more than 20 offences including firearm and weapons related offences and possession of drugs.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
