Police charge Windsor man, seize illegal rifle

A man from Windsor has been charged with possessing a firearm without having a licence for it.

Police seized an illegal rifle, magazine, and ammunition after a short investigation and the search of a home on Banwell Road and Wyandotte Street.

Antonio Chiarappa, 28, from Windsor, was arrested on Wyandotte Street near Isack Drive Friday afternoon. He is charged with possessing a firearm without holding a licence, and possessing a prohibited magazine without holding a licence.

"The matter remains under active investigation by the DIGS Unit [drugs & guns unit]," police said in a news release issued Monday afternoon.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
