Alert citizens help police end Windsor crime spree

A Windsor man known to police has been arrested again after a brief crime spree.

Henry Lewenza, 41, from Windsor is accused of stealing a white 2007 Cadillac Escalade from Whiteside Drive near Medina Street on Tuesday then stealing gas on Dougall Avenue north of Eugenie Street. Police also said he later allegedly broke into an attached garage on Dougall Avenue near Darcey Street but drove off in a white Escalade when the homeowner yelled at him to leave.

Officers arrested Lewenza at the scene of another break and enter on McGregor Boulevard near Roseland Golf Club after an alert citizen spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear yard.

Lewenza is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of break and enter, possession of stolen property, theft of fuel, and breaking court conditions.

He was also charged in early February for break-ins at the Windsor mosque and a produce store in the city.
