Teen arrested in pair of playground fires

Windsor police have arrested a teenage boy in connection with a pair of playground fires Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to two playground fire calls within an hour and within several blocks of each other. The first was reported at the Francois Court Parkette off Ontario Street, the second at the Dawson Park playground, according to Windsor police Constable Talya Natyshak. There was extensive damage at both scenes though no injuries were reported.

Through investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Dawson Road near Wyandotte Street East.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of arson. He is not being identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The Windsor police arson unit continues to investigate. Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext. 4330, or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
