Assault charge filed after woman found hurt in Walkerville

A 36-year-old man is facing charges after a woman was found injured last week.

Windsor police officers were called around 1 p.m. Thursday to the area of Argyle Road and Ontario Street in Walkerville after a Good Samaritan found a seriously injured woman in a garden shed. The victim was lying prone with visible wounds, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

The woman was taken to hospital with what were initially reported as life-threatening injuries, Natyshak said. Officers from the WPS Forensic Identification Unit soon arrived to process the scene and it was determined the perpetrator was still in the area.

A suspect was soon found and has been charged with aggravated assault. The suspect is not being identified to protect the identity of the victim.

The Major Crimes Branch continues to investigate this incident. Anyone with information should call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700 ext 4830 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
