Police searching for suspect after shots fired downtown

Windsor police are searching for a suspect after shots were fired downtown on Good Friday.

Police said officers found a spent casing on Ouellette Avenue near Maiden Lane West at approximately 1 a.m but no injuries were reported. Investigators said a fight between two men happened just before the shots rang out.

"A male involved in the disturbance brandished a handgun and discharged one shot in a northeast direction," police said in a news release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the shooter ran into a nearby business and then left through the rear with a group of friends. Investigators added the group took off in a dark four-door vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black man with short dark hair and wearing a red winter jacket.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the area.
