Local attractions promoted at Devonshire Mall

Are you looking for a vacation this year but don't want to spend a ton of money?

Tourism Windsor Essex and Pelee Island (TWEPI) is showing off attractions right in our own backyard, with its annual Staycation Expo Friday and Saturday at Devonshire Mall in Windsor. The Expo coincides with TWEPI's release of the 2019-2020 Official Visitor's Guide, which promotes the theme "Where Can WE Take You?"

Thousands of people walk through the displays each year, and the Expo is a big attraction for the mall, according to Devonshire Mall general manager Chris Savard.

"As the busiest building in the region we view this partnership as a true win-win for our tenants, customers, and the entire tourism industry,” said Savard.

Gordon Orr, TWEPI's CEO, said the mall, the largest in Windsor-Essex, has been a tremendous partner and offers a one-stop venue for visitors to see everything Windsor-Essex has to offer.

“Through this collaborative marketing partnership with Devonshire Mall, who have generously opened their doors to welcome us, our tourism partners are afforded the opportunity to showcase some of the most unique things to explore in our region to the masses,” said Orr. “This weekend thousands will learn more about our region, and be able to share those messages with their friends, and together explore more of our region.”

The visitor's guide, which is available at TWEPI's downtown Windsor office as well as hotels and key attractions, classifies scores of events and attractions for those passing through the area. The guide features tour packages, provides information on the biggest outdoor attractions, and showcases Windsor-Essex's sports industry along with its wineries and craft breweries. It will be distributed across Ontario, as well as in Michigan and Ohio.

The Staycation Expo is in Devonshire Mall's Hudson's Bay court and runs during the mall's regular hours, until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The visitor's guide is also available online.
