Windsor police arrest stabbing suspect

A Windsor man has been arrested and charged after a stabbing in downtown Windsor.

Police received calls Tuesday at approximately 5:15 p.m. about a man with a knife in the area of Riverside Drive and Caron Avenue. When officers arrived they found a man with a stab wound near Bruce Avenue. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Another man also reported being assaulted at around the same time in the area of Bruce Avenue and Chatham Street. The second victim was not injured.

Robert Montgomery, 28, of Windsor was later arrested near Chatham Street and Dougall Avenue and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon, and two counts of breach of probation.

A weapon has not been recovered.
