Windsor high school student wins $100,000 scholarship

Shahed Saleh is set when she goes to the University of Waterloo in the fall.

The grade 12 student at Vincent Massey Secondary School has won the Schulich Leader Scholarship worth $100,000.

She plans to study mechatronics engineering and is the first student from Massey to win the award.

Schulich Leader Scholarships are awarded to 50 high school graduates who are enrolled in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics undergraduate program at 20 universities across Canada.

Saleh has been the captain of the FIRST Robotics team at Massey, a mentor for FIRST Lego League elementary school teams, and is a co-founder of the STEM Day and CodeReach events at her school.
