There was a robbery, but no police impersonator

Almost two weeks after a woman reported a robbery, investigators think the suspect may not have been impersonating a police officer after all.

They do believe the woman was robbed, and continue to search for a suspect.

The investigation began on Saturday, June 8, when a woman told investigators she was stopped by an unmarked vehicle with a red flashing light.

She said a man wearing a Windsor police shirt checked her identification and demanded money. He was holding a weapon.

Once she gave him the money, the suspect drove away.

Investigators said Friday they are satisfied the suspect was not wearing a police services uniform or any piece of clothing that may give the impression he was an officer.

Police remind the public they should call 911 if they have an interaction with someone who claims to be an officer and doubt his or her authenticity.
