Renovations at Jackson Park enter a new phase

Construction on new washrooms at Windsor's Jackson Park is weeks from completion, but work will start on a new parking lot Tuesday.

The main parking lot off of Tecumseh Road will be closed until October while it is expanded from 45 parking spaces to almost 100.

New sanitary and storm sewers will go in, along with a new water supply.

The park itself will remain open, and patrons can still park in the southeast parking lot off of McDougall Street.

Work on the washrooms and a new maintenance building began in May. The original facilities, which date back to the 1960s, will be replaced with ones that are larger and more accessible.

Construction on those buildings is expected to finish in October.
