UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning ended

Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm warning for Essex County.

The weather agency issued the warning around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and ended it an hour later

A flood watch has also been issued for shorelines in Essex County by the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA.)

"Rainfall may have an impact on areas located at the downstream reaches of major tributaries which are already full due to record high lake levels," ERCA said in a news release. "Additionally, low-lying and poorly drained areas may experience ponding from these events, especially those areas which have already recently received significant rainfall from isolated thunderstorms."

The flood watch is in effect for the remainder of Saturday afternoon after which the long term flood watch remains in effect for shoreline areas until July 16.
