Famous Windsor deli on the move

An iconic delicatessen near downtown Windsor is temporarily closing while it searches for a new address.

Malic's Deli chef and owner, Alex Ethier, said the deli has decided to close its Wyandotte Street location near Aylmer Avenue for now, while he looks for a suitable new location.

"We've come to realize that our historic location is no longer ideal," Ethier said on Malic's webpage. "Finding convenient parking is difficult. We need to do something about it."

The authentic Montreal deli serves classic smoked meat sandwiches, poutine, and other Montreal-inspired dishes.

"Moving. Address to follow, stay tuned," Malic's posted on its Facebook page Saturday night.

The restaurant has been a Windsor institution for 90 years.
