Man in custody after pharmacy robbery

A Windsor man faces charges following a robbery at a drugstore.

Windsor police responded to the pharmacy at Howard Avenue and Tecumseh Road East around 6 a.m. Monday after a robbery had just taken place there. Witnesses told police that a man entered the business, took out a canister that he said was mace, then demanded drugs from an employee. The suspect then fled with an unspecified quantity of medications.

No one was injured.

The man was found two hours later at a home on Howard Avenue near Hyde Street, and he turned himself over to officers. A warrant was obtained to search the property, and several items related to the robbery were seized.

Robert Young, 39, is charged with assault with a weapon and robbery with a weapon. These charges have yet to be proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
