UPDATE: Motorcycle driver taken to hospital after collision in Lakeshore, SIU investigating

The Special Investigations Unit has taken over the investigation involving a motorcyclist who was injured in a single-vehicle collision in Lakeshore Friday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Amy Croft Drive. Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports that a motorcycle had collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Since then, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate towards the incident and taken over the investigation from Ontario Provincial Police. The SIU acts as an “arm’s length” agency that investigates any reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.

No further details have been provided.
