Kylie Masse wins gold in Gwangju, Korea

LaSalle native Kylie Masse has defended her world record in the women's 100 metre back stroke at the FINA World Aquatic Championships in Korea.

Masse had a time of 58.60 seconds, just 0.25 seconds ahead of Minna Atherton of Australia.

According to SportsNet, she is just the second Canadian to win two gold medals at the championships, after the late Victor Davis.

Masse won the gold in the same event at the last World's championship in 2017, and the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

On Monday, Maggie McNeil of London won the gold medal in the women's 100 metre butterfly event.
