OPP to help Leamington residents with sandbags

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police Auxiliary Unit will be at the Bayview Dog Park in Leamington Wednesday to help residents fill sandbags as high water levels continue to cause flooding along the shores of Lake Erie.

The dog park is at 435 Bevel Line Rd., and the auxiliary unit members will be there between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Residents will need to go to the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Complex first to show proof of residency. The town is giving out free sandbags there.

Residents are limited to 100 bags each.

The auxiliary members will also help load filled sandbags into vehicles.
