Careless smoking sends victim to hospital in critical condition

Careless smoking gets the blame for a large house fire in east Windsor over the weekend.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services said a blaze on Copperfield Place near Little River Park on Sunday afternoon is being listed as accidental.

Fire officials said the fire started in the living room and caused $175,000 in damage.

The owner of the home is still in the hospital in critical condition. A second person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
