UPDATE: Police lay second-degree murder charge in Windsor homicide

Windsor Police have formally charged a 24-year-old man with second degree murder after the body of a woman was discovered last Friday morning.

Officers responded to a report of a deceased woman at a house on Moy Avenue and Wyandotte Street on Friday at approximately 10:45 a.m.

"The circumstances surrounding the death were deemed suspicious, the scene was contained, and an investigation was launched," police said in a news release Monday afternoon.

The home was searched and an autopsy was performed on the body.

A suspect was identified and he was arrested on Monday.  Jonathan Desilva was charged Tuesday morning.

Investigators said the suspect and the victim know each another.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
