UPDATE: Body of swimmer found off Tecumseh

Ontario Provincial Police officers have found the body of a swimmer missing since Saturday evening.

The Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and the Essex County OPP marine unit were back on the water Monday morning looking to recover a swimmer who went missing in Lake St. Clair.

Tecumseh OPP said the search started around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday after reports of a person in the water near Lakewood Park. Police said a boat anchored approximately a half kilometre offshore near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Manning Road, and several people went for a swim but one didn't return to the boat.

The body was recovered Monday afternoon and has been identified by the OPP as Darren Castellan, 25, of LaSalle.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
