UPDATE: Construction site fire causes $10K in damage

Windsor fire officials say a construction site fire Thursday was confined to one floor.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called to the scene at Wyandotte Street West and Crawford Avenue for what was reported as a fire at an apartment complex that is under construction. Fire officials said the fire was out shortly after 11:30 a.m. Multiple fire units responded to the scene, according to the service's Twitter account.

Wyandotte Street West between Caron and Oak streets, as well as the intersection at Crawford, was closed to traffic for over an hour with a warning to the public to find an alternate route. The street was reopened shortly after 12:30 p.m.

The fire was isolated to the second floor of the under-construction building and was declared an accident by Windsor Fire. Damage was estimated at $10,000 with no injuries reported.
