UPDATE: Robbery suspect located in Windsor

Police in Windsor have a robbery suspect in custody after the Ontario Provincial Police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Police were looking for 30-year-old Elias Chavira-Gonzalez in connection with a robbery that happened on July 21, 2019. Police say the victim was walking down Emerson Avenue in Leamington around 5 p.m. when they were approached from behind. The victim was struck with a weapon, and the suspect demanded money.

Windsor Police got a tip last night that Chavira-Gonzalez was at a south Windsor motel.

A photo published by BlackburnNews.com of the suspect was removed at the request of the OPP.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
