Windsor man charged in Monday robbery

A 24-year-old man has been charged following an incident involving a cell phone.

Windsor police said it happened shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. Officers were called to a location on Wyandotte Street East near Parent Avenue. A man was reportedly assaulted and had his phone stolen. The suspect ran before officers arrived, but surveillance video showed his identity.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers from the City Centre Patrol Unit spotted the man on Aylmer Avenue near Wyandotte East and arrested him without incident.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries in the attack. His cell phone was returned to him by officers.

Marc Gerard of Windsor is charged with one count of robbery. This has not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
