Man facing animal abuse charges

A Windsor man is facing animal abuse charges after police investigated a property damage complaint.

Windsor police were called to an apartment building on Lauzon Road for a report of property damage and possible animal abuse. When police reviewed surveillance video, they discovered the damage was related to the abuse of a dog during the early morning hours of November 2, 2019.

The suspect, Tyler Vassell, was arrested and charged with willfully causing unnecessary pain, suffering, or injury to an animal.

The dog was transported for medical assessment.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
