Despite the heavy snowfall and freezing temperature, hundreds gathered at the Windsor Cenotaph to mark Remembrance Day.

The crowd was made up of young and old as students from schools throughout the city were in attendance. The sombre ceremony included the laying of wreaths as well as music from the Windsor Youth Choir.

Theresa Charbonneau, the mother of the late Corporal Andrew Grenon, reminded people in the crowd how lucky they were to be at the ceremony and dealing with only the cold and snow when veterans faced so much more.

"How fortunate are we to experience only one of the elements that our veterans had to deal with," said Charbonneau. "They had to watch for enemy fire, stay warm, stay dry, stay safe, stay alive. How fortunate are we?"

Ceremonies were also held in Leamington, Kingsville, Amherstburg, Comber, Essex, and LaSalle Monday morning. A service in Belle River was held on Saturday while the Town of Tecumseh held its Remembrance Day ceremony on November 2, 2019.
