Spitfires outrun Greyhounds 6-3

The Windsor Spitfires doubled the Soo Greyhounds 6-3 in OHL action on Thursday.

Cole Purboo put Windsor on the board 5:27 into the first period and Curtis Douglas added another just over two minutes after to give the Spitfires a 2-0 lead. Windsor extended their lead with a goal by Tyler Angle 15:19 into the first and again with Purboo scoring his second goal of the night late in the frame.

The Soo scored their first goal of the game 3:30 into the second, but Dylan Robinson scored at the 4:48 mark to give the Spitfires at 5-1 lead. The Greyhounds scored two more goals in the second but remained scoreless in the final frame. Will Cuylle capped off Windsor's win with a final goal 12:46 into the third.

Spitfires goalie Kari Piiroinen made 24 saves out of 27 shots on net.

The Spitfires are on the road on Saturday to take on the Saginaw Spirit at 7:05 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
