Spitfires fall to Spirit in OT

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Saginaw Spirit on Thursday.

Egor Afanasyev kicked things off for Windsor by scoring 16:38 into the first period, but the Spirit responded with one of their own with just over a minute left in the frame.  Tyler Angle was able to retake the lead for Windsor by scoring seconds later, but Saginaw responded again with another goal to tie things up heading into the second.

The Spirit took the lead with a goal early in the second period, but Afanasyev was quick to make sure everything remained tied by scoring 8:09 into the frame. After no scoring in the third, Saginaw scored the game-winner on a penalty shot in OT.

The Spitfires head on the road on Friday to take on the Guelph Storm at 7:30 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
