Public school board reaches tentative deal with CUPE

Months after the Canadian Union of Public Employees settled a contract with the Ontario government, it can now say it has a tentative deal with the Greater Essex County District School Board too.

CUPE Local 27 represents custodians and maintenance workers.

A deal with the province, reached in October, dealt with provincial issues, but the tentative contract with the public school board focuses on local issues. It was reached Wednesday.

CUPE Local 1358 ratified its contract with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board in October.

It still has to be ratified by members and trustees with the public school board.

A release from the school board said ratification meetings would be in the new year.
