Charges laid after fatal Windsor crash

A 29-year-old man is facing a series of charges following a fatal crash in east Windsor.

Officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision around 3:45 p.m. Saturday on southbound Lauzon Parkway between Essex Way and the E.C. Row Expressway. Both involved vehicles had extensive damage. Three people were rushed to hospital with varying injuries. Sadly, a 61-year-old man succumbed to his injuries.

That stretch of Lauzon Road was closed for several hours Saturday night while police processed and investigated the scene.

It has since been alleged that the driver of one of the vehicles was criminally responsible for the crash, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge. The driver was arrested at the hospital and brought to police headquarters.

Philip Hayes of Lakeshore is charged with dangerous driving causing death, and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. These charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
