Hospital gala raises $520,000

In just one night, the Erie Shores Health Foundation raised half a million dollars toward its $15 million fundraising goal.

The foundation hosted its 25th-anniversary gala on Saturday and was able to raise over $520,000 toward new diagnostic imaging equipment and a new health information system.

Hospital spokesperson Arms Bumanlag said this is the biggest fundraising campaign in the foundation's history.

"We're really looking at tapping into the community, tapping into the families, tapping into our patients and really tapping into our staff to make sure that care happens here at Erie Shores Healthcare," said Bumanlag.

This is a multi-year campaign that aims to improve access to imaging equipment and improve patient care.

"We're going to be able to transform the way that we do medicine and make a bigger impact on patients sooner. So it really is just bringing some of the ways that we dissect the information and bringing it to the forefront of the 21st century," said Bumanlag.
