Spitfires triumph over Spirit 5-3

The Windsor Spitfires defeated the Saginaw Spirit 5-3 at the WFCU Centre on Sunday.

Davis Codd was the first to score for the Spirit 6:49 into the first period. The Spitfires scored four consecutive goals shot by Wyatt Johnston, Egor Afanasyev - who scored a powerplay goal, Kyle McDonald and Pasquale Zito. The Spirit's Ryan Suzuki scored 15:50 into the frame.

Mason Millman scored a powerplay goal for the Spirit 5:25 into the third period. Curtis Douglas scored the final goal of the game for the Spitfires 13:03 into the frame.

Windsor goalie Kari Piiroinen saved 25 out of 28 shots on net.

The Spitfires will return to the WFCU Centre to face off against the London Knights on Thursday. Puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
