Family dogs poisoned in break-in

Essex County OPP is investigating a break and enter in which valuables were taken and the family dogs were poisoned.

The break-in happened around 1 p.m. on December 23 on Concession 11 in the Town of Tecumseh.

The OPP said a family member was returning home when they saw a silver Dodge quickly leave their driveway and strike a culvert. It's believed the car had considerable damage. The car was last seen travelling north on Banwell Road.

The home was found ransacked and several items had been stolen. The family's two dogs also appeared to have been poisoned and required urgent medical assistance.

OPP is hoping the public can help them identify persons of interest seen in the surveillance video taken at another location prior to the break-in.

Anyone able to identify these individuals is asked to contact the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) at 519-723-2491.
