Firebirds hammer Spitfires 8-3

The Windsor Spitfires dropped a harsh 8-3 decision to the Flint Firebirds in OHL action on Thursday.

The Firebirds kept the Spitfires off the scoreboard during the first period and scored three back-to-back goals to take a 3-0 lead heading into the second.

Flint scored another three goals in a row for a big 6-0 advantage before Wyatt Johnston scored to put Windsor on the board 14:59 into the second. Tyler Angle added another goal for the Spitfires with just under 1:30 left in the frame, and Curtis Douglas scored for Windsor 2:03 into the third to cut Flint's lead to 6-3.

The Firebirds responded by scoring another to goals unanswered goals to cap off their win.

The Firebirds also outshot Windsor 37-20.

The Spitfires head to London on Friday to take on the Knights at 7:30 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
